Revelation 19:6, “And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, ‘Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!’ This ‘great multitude’ refers to the heavenly host, a vast assembly of angels and saints praising God’s reign.
What about the word “Alleluia”?
Let’s consider three things about this powerful word.
First, let’s marvel at all that God has made. The stars, planets, our sun, the rotation and revolutions of celestial bodies, the earth with its moon, water, land, animals, and you and me. It’s a breathtaking display of His power and creativity. We live, breathe, and move, Acts 17:28, all by His doing!
I’m impressed with babies. They are tiny humans, and their small baby parts work like ours! How do babies get more extensive with their bodies stretching in all directions? That’s a God-thing. God is praised for children and grandchildren. He’s praised for all His creation, and He’s praised for salvation through Jesus.
Second, let’s take a moment to appreciate God’s providence toward us. In the midst of life’s storms, He is our anchor, guiding us through every trial. And even in the face of adversity, we are never without His provision. That’s His promise, Matthew 6:33, as we put the Kingdom first.
Third, let’s reflect on the profound transformation that comes with a life within God. We are always with Him, and He is always with us, not merely around us but in us and we in Him. This deep relationship inspires us to model our lives after Jesus’. Our thoughts always return to Him. Our feelings draw us closer to Him. Our bodies are His to use, and our spirits long for Him.
Life with Jesus offers the promise of eternal life beyond our earthly existence. His sacrifice offers salvation from eternal separation from God. The resurrection provides hope for the afterlife and the chance to be united with God.
Alleluia (or Hallelujah) means “praise the Lord!” It’s an expression of joyful praise and adoration directed at God.
