Is the church of Christ Homophobic?

Schools are to be teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic, as the old cliché’ goes. In this age, though, many schools are teaching and promoting sexual sin, the Gay and Lesbian lifestyle, gender change, and an agenda supporting the LGBTQ movement.

Whether you approve of this life or not, homosexuality exists. It existed in Sodom and Gomorra around 1900 BCE. That’s a mighty long time ago. It has lived through the centuries, and now it seems we are in the midst of a sexual revolution.

What is the church of Christ’s Take on Homosexuality?

First, everyone needs and deserves courtesy, kindness, and respect. It’s Biblical. We are to love God foremost and our neighbors as ourselves. We should always invite everyone to services, including gays, lesbians, and all sinners. Everyone is a sinner, Romans 3:23.

My sin, for example, may have been theft – that’s a sin, but it’s not a better sin than homosexuality. Regardless of the sinful action, breaking just one of God’s laws produces spiritual death, Romans 6:23. James 2:10 states, “For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.” If I steal, then I am under God’s wrath for sinning.

If one looks at the sins listed in Galatians 5:19-21, there’s enough to cover all of us. Fortunately, we have a Savior, Jesus, who is Christ, who gave Himself as the perfect sin offering on the cross at Calvary. Our sins can be washed away in baptism, restoring a spiritual relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Everyone on the planet needs the gospel – the good news of Jesus. According to Romans 1:16, the gospel is God’s power to salvation. Everyone needs to hear how God loves us, and by His grace, we are saved through Jesus – He’s the only way of salvation, Acts 4:12.

We invite everyone, regardless of their sinful problems, to attend services.

Gays and Lesbians Would Disagree Of Their Need For Salvation.

But Gays and Lesbians say, “We don’t need salvation for being gay. Our lives are acceptable as they are.” But that’s not what God says. First Corinthians 6:9-10 has this: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

The unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God. That means you won’t go to heaven if you practice the LBGTQ lifestyle, and it means you’ll end up in hell for eternity. You’ll note that homosexuals are on the list. Any sexual sins keep someone from God and heaven.

Three thousand nine hundred years ago, God destroyed Sodom and Gomora for their homosexual way of life. That’s extraordinary evidence that God disapproves of homosexuality. He also gives warnings about it in the New Testament.

The answer is that gays and lesbians must come to Jesus, repenting from their sexual sins. Any person guilty of sin must come to Jesus for salvation. Again, heaven is so much better than hell.

You Don’t Have To Act On Your Desires.

It’s a fact that some gay men and women have changed their behavior from gay to straight. It’s a choice to do evil or good. A straight individual, for example, may have a great desire for the opposite sex, but knowing it is wrong to act on that, they choose not to take action on their feelings. A gay person may have a desire for someone of the same sex. However, they need not act on their desire. Once again, I may want to steal something, but I don’t because I know that would displease God. (I’m not a thief; I only use that as an example).

If one falls in love with the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, they will do their best to please them.  I want to go to heaven. Don’t you?

Conclusion

Regardless of the sin, everyone is welcome to attend our services and hear the gospel.

It is indeed a sin to practice the LGBTQ way of life. God says so, and the Bible points that out.

You won’t go to heaven if you’re gay and unrepentant.

You’ll go to hell if you’re gay. That’s just the Bible of it! Of course, you can repent, ending that behavior.

Gays and Lesbians, and everyone must repent of their sins to be acceptable to God.

You don’t have to act on your feelings. You can talk about your feelings with a member of the church of Christ. Send me an email. We’ll visit. See the section below.

Good Christians will listen to your heart. They won’t judge you because they’ve had their own sins.

Christians will point you to the truth of this topic.
