What would you do if your world was turned upside down? Many would run amok, screaming in the streets. Then again, many would show their pain in several ways. We’ve all seen this on TV after a devastating storm and riots. Others have said they would rebuild or move ahead because Jesus is with them. Many find that a laughable statement but it’s a true statement.
But what would you do? Without Jesus, my friend, there are no good answers. You can fight the wind but doing so gets you nowhere. After a life storm, your future is bleak and overwhelming. The one choice you’ve got is to put one foot in front of the other and slog on.
Is Jesus going to make storms any better? Well, yes. Consider this. Wouldn’t you want the God of the universe with you during storms? He’s the One able to make things better, and He is the only One who restores the heart to its pristine status.
He’s the One who cares for you when you’re alone. He knows everything about you, every hurt, pain, sorrow, and depression. He knows, and He cares. He knows when you’re ill and He knows when life is hard for you.
But is His knowing about our life struggles enough? My friend, this is the beginning of a revelation if you’re not a Christian. God loves us very much, more than we can know or imagine! So, yes. It makes a tremendous difference that God knows and cares about us.
What’s more, God has already done something about man’s plight. What’s that? No doubt, you’ve heard John 3:16, ESV. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
You and I are among the “whoever.” Everyone can have eternal life, from the meanest person to the most angelic of nature. You see, without Jesus, when one passes, he goes to torment, and that’s more horrible than anything on earth. But, with Jesus, the saved enters heaven.
Jesus offers you this invitation: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest,” Matthew 11:28, ESV.
What is this rest Jesus speaks of? It’s rest for the soul. We often seek inner peace. It can be difficult to find. But Jesus offers peace of heart, spirit, and mind and it’s found only in Him. The world cannot give you this peace.
Most importantly, it’s rest from a world worn out by sin, the sin around us, and our own sin. Do you enjoy being screamed at? Of course not. Like having nails driven into your spirit by the harshness of others? No. Do you enjoy it when people cause you physical pain? Certainly not. Tired of your own evil, the things you’ve said and done to others, and things said and done to self? Hopefully, that answer to that last question is “Yes.”
But assuredly, to be honest, even as a Christian, the world will hurl rocks but with Jesus, there’s a spiritual way of heart and mind. The spirit rests in Jesus.

We could go on. There are so many more promises Jesus has made to us. And we have every reason to believe He fulfills all His promises. You can rest assured of this by Jesus’ resurrection. He’s overcome death, defeated it, for everyone who accepts His offer of salvation.
The result? The result is a new life in Christ, alive in Christ as a new man, the old person of the heart done away with so that we might have the joy of truly abundantlife with Jesus.
