Does the Bible say anything about abortion? Well, yes, it does. Jeremiah 1:5 has it that the LORD knew Jeremiah while he was yet in the womb. It sounds rather like a human was in there to me. Then there’s Isaiah, Isaiah 49:1-2, “Listen to me, all you in distant lands! Pay attention, you who are far away! The LORD called me before my birth; from within the womb he called me by name. He made my words of judgment as sharp as a sword. He has hidden me in the shadow of his hand. I am like a sharp arrow in his quiver.” Again, it sounds like a human was in there.
Then there’s Psalm 139:13-16, “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” That sounds very human to me.
Oh, then there’s the verse about John the Baptist, Luke 1:39-44. Note the “child leaped in her womb,” and “the baby in my womb leaped for joy.” The baby. A person. Womb. “Unbirthed” human but still a human. And then, there’s Jesus. Luke 1:31, where the angel Gabriel speaks to Mary, the mother of Jesus, “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.” Conception, where Jesus’ life began, gives birth to a natural person, who already has a name; Jesus, the Son of God, the One who comes to save the world from sin and death.
Is abortion murder? Well, if a human is in the womb, don’t you think it’s murder to kill them? It’s wrong to murder an older adult. It’s a sin to murder a middle-aged person. It’s not right to kill a young adult or a teen. It’s wrong to murder a one-year-old. And, it’s murder to kill someone in the womb. There is a penalty for unforgiven sin, like murder, and that’s hell.

A woman’s choice? Since when does the Bible, God, allow a woman to murder anyone? It’s no different than murdering a one-year-old. Murder is murder. The woman had a choice and chance to prevent the pregnancy but didn’t. Now that there’s an unwanted life, it doesn’t give a woman the right to murder the life in her womb.
God views life as precious, and He designed the woman’s body to conceive, to carry natural life to fruition. To abort that life is murder.
