God’s Goodness

How is it that God is good? First of all, His nature is good, Exodus 34:6-7, NASB. The scriptures show loving-kindness is one of His attributes. Flip the words, and we can see He gives kind love. Not only is He loving, but He is also supernaturally kind in His love. Our God is compassionate – He considers the less fortunate and offers them salvation. The LORD God is merciful. Even though man rebels against Him, He is willing to forgive their sins. The LORD God is faithful. We wouldn’t want an unfaithful God after all. We need a Father who is always there and constant. He is loyal to us even though we are unfaithful to Him. He forgives the forgiven when they sin – as they repent, 1 John 1:9, NASB. He gives us the truth, the truth of the universe, objective, pure, unadulterated, truth, and we need truth if we’re going to stake our souls on His word. There’s just so much about our God that is good, and He offers that goodness to us every moment.

God is forgiving! If we strike at our parents, they may or may not forgive us. If we rebel against society, we may well end up in prison. If we are guilty of some heinous murder, we might be executed. We know God has the power, the absolute power, to do away with us for our sins. He could execute us if He wants to. It’s in His right to do so. However, He doesn’t do away with us. He wants everyone sinning against Him to repent – not desiring any soul in hell. He gave His Son, the perfect sacrifice, to make that reality. Jesus’ death on the cross frees from death all who would come to Him, Hebrews 10:12, 5:9, NASB. Can we imagine God’s wrath falling upon a soul? How great that wrath must be! Yet, God is willing to forgive anyone of their sins. What great forgiveness through the sacrifice of His Son!

God, Jesus, prepares a home for us! In John 14:2-3, NASB, Jesus says there are many rooms (dwelling places) in heaven. He prepares a dwelling place for every soul admitted to heaven. We know the saved have an eternal habitation with the LORD; endless, time without end. Revelation 21:4, NASB, shows God wiping away every tear, none will ever perish there, there is no mourning, no grief, no sorrow, and there’s no crying and pain. What sweet, individual care for each soul! Chapter 21 goes on to explain the beauty of heaven, like no place on earth – majestically beautiful! Revelation 22:1-2, NASB shows the water of life, and the tree of life is there to heal the nations. There, we will be with our Lord Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit for time without end. God is supernaturally good, far above our mind’s imagination!
