Authors! About 40 people wrote the 66 books of the Bible. But, of course, the ultimate author is God. Here’s 2 Peter 1:20-21 declaring the point, “Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.”
Reliable? You can trust your Bible to be the accurate word of God. It’s more reliable than books of its era. Many historical details are confirmed. Did you know, no facts in the Old or New Testament have been proven false? Historians have access to thousands of manuscripts showing that the New Testament has been faithfully copied. There are more than 5,000 manuscripts of the New Testament – most early copies less than 300 years old from the first century. The Dead Sea Scrolls proved the reliability of copied Old Testament material. All this gives over 99% Bible accuracy!
Apply! Philippians 4:9: “Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” God will be with you if you apply the Bible!
How? You need a foundation, and that means you need to read the Bible every day. Hide God’s word in your heart, memorize verses, Psalm 119:11. Think about a particular verse. Turn it over in your mind. Cogitate on it. Understand it. And pray! Talk to God about everything. You’ll be living the Bible every day!
